Decorating Tips for Apartments
It’s a great feeling when you finally move out of your parents’ house or a stuffy dorm room and into your very own apartment. Apartments offer great amenities, like gyms and pools, but decorating in one may be a bit harder than decorating a home. For one, apartments are usually a little smaller than houses, limiting the amount of space you have for paintings or cute furniture, and there are other restrictions you may have to follow. Despite this, there are many cute ways you can decorate your apartments and still get your security deposit back.
Tip #1: Make Use of Awkward Space
No matter where you live, you’re going to have awkward nooks, crannies, and spaces. Many times, these areas turn into dead space and many people miss out on the opportunity to take advantage of them. Whether it’s for decoration or extra storage, awkward spaces, such as those near the front door or in smaller nooks, can really come in handy. You could add an end table behind your front door or hooks in a small corner to hang jewelry, scarves, and even plants. Either way, that awkward space doesn’t have to go to waste!
Tip #2: Take Advantage of Nooks or Unused Closets
A trend we’ve seen floating around recently is turning tight spaces, like nooks or closets, into mini office spaces. Sliding in a small desk into these spaces is a great way to give yourself some extra working space, especially if these spaces weren’t going to good use beforehand. Add a few decorations, a good lamp, and office supplies and you’ve got yourself a great place to retreat and work on projects.
Tip #3: Add a Splash of Color
There are plenty of ways to get creative with color. Some of our favorite ideas include repainting and reupholstering furniture, putting up paintings and pictures, and throwing in some throw pillows. Adding a pop of color to your apartment can really bring it to life. Even just adding a few colorful placemats to your dining room table can help make your dining room shine.
Tip #4: Get Creative with Furniture Arrangement
While our apartments are spacious, there are still different ways you can maximize space. The best thing you can do is get creative with your furniture arrangement. Essentially, there’s a right way and there’s a wrong way for maximizing space. Some tips include to arrange your living room furniture for face to face conversation and enlarging the space by laying out your furniture diagonally in a room. You could also use your furniture to divide up rooms, such as your living room from your kitchen or vary the kind of seating you have, like including both chairs and couches.
Tip #5: Live in an Apartment You Love
No one wants to spend the time decorating an apartment they dislike. Our apartments are spacious, homey, and come with great amenities. Plus, you’ll have plenty of creative freedom when it comes to decorating them. So what are you waiting for? Contact Caprock Apartments today!
